Hey girls! Thursday, woo hoo! What a week... I swear I have napped every night after work {I iz lame}
Anyways, I have noticed a trend recently of girls asking me about how I started blogging, how to be successful etc. and unfortunately I don't have all the answers. I literally started with zero people reading, and it was my therapy. I wrote to myself. HA! I am so humbled everyday by the sweet emails and comments I get, it is so surreal. I get so much out of blogging, I absolutely love it. And as it turns out, for some strange reason, you all read it! haha. Couldn't tell you why, perhaps it is so you feel a leeetle better about your life, since mine is usually in shambles. HA! So, I don't have the answers, BUT luckily for you, I have a bloggy friend Katie who wrote a fabulous guest post about starting to blog, and I thought it would be helpful for those of you who have been asking, and maybe those of you silently asking out there!
For the full post by Katie click here {it's a really sweet, fantastic post, Katie you just melted my heart!}
Here are the great points (so great that I wanted to share) that Miss Katie made about getting connected:
-----
#1. Be yourself when you write!
Don't just write about what you THINK others will want to read because people will see right through you. I've found that I can relate the most with people who write similar to how they would talk in real life...if that makes sense. It may take a while for you to learn to write like this, but that's OK.
-Always remember your main purpose for making your blog in the first place....be true to yourself.
#2. Just keep writing.
-When you first start out, readers want to get to know you more so it helps if you post regularly. It will not only help get your blog out there, but it will help you feel more comfortable with posting.
#3. Don't be afraid to comment on blogs that you love to read or that inspire you.
-Is there a blog out there that you just LOVE to read everyday? TELL THEM and follow it. That is how relationships and friendships are formed...don't be shy!! The more consistent you are with commenting, the more they will understand how much you enjoy their blog and will visit yours. :)
#4. Certain bloggers have what they call "link-up's" that you can participate in....PARTICIPATE if the topic intrigues you.
-This is a great way to expand your readers because other bloggers will link up and be able to read your post from the link-up. You should also visit other people's blogs that link-up and comment letting them know that you found them through the link-up!
#5. THIS MAY BE THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF ADVICE I HAVE LEARNED: Make sure on your Blogger profile that you have your EMAIL ADDRESS added. If you only have your web page added, you will NOT be able to receive any emails back from people who you have commented on their blog.
-When I first started blogging, I would comment on people's blogs and not understand why I would never get a response. Do they hate me?!?! is what I thought. No, THIS was the reason. It's so easy to change and will really help you connect with other bloggers!

See? Doesn't she have the smartz? PLL back now...
I seriously encourage anyone who has an inkling of wanting to start a blog to do it! There is a niche for everyone out there, you just gotta be yourself and find it! OK now I am sounding like a Hallmark card...but seriously- I had NO idea how much a part of my life this silly little blog I started would become.
Hope this helped someone out there! I just thought it was fantastic!
For you non-bloggers, just readers: sorry for the dry post, maybe you should start a blog? ;)
xoxo
