If you were reading my blog a year ago, you may remember my cousin Jessica, and her sweet little baby Elise.
Jessica posted this on facebook today, and I just thought it was so sweet, and wanted to share with you all!
“It’s almost that time. 1:17PM one year ago today. I didn’t want to give birth. I would have done anything to keep her inside of me. BUT God (and my Momma Lou who passed almost a year prior on 2.20.11) had other plans. Within minutes of doctors telling me, “I’m sorry, it’s time. We have to take her out,” Elise Diane Olsen was born at 1 lb. 4.5 oz and was as long as a ruler (12.25 inches).
I didn’t feel bonded to her at first. I felt cheated out of a full term/happy pregnancy and was extremely scared when I looked at her...my daughter... wrapped in wires, monitors beeping like crazy, and her lying in a plastic bag so her body heat would not escape. And then the begging began (for all of my family)...please God, let her live. The doctors were honest...we had a 40% survival rate.
And here we are...one year later.... Tears trickling down my cheeks as I say... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR ONE YEAR OLD BIG GIRL!!!! Now, how strong is that bond? Unbreakable. I can’t stop kissing her today...and everyday. Forever thankful for our faith, our family, and alllll the community outreach. Blessed beyond words. THANK YOU from all of us!”
